Hawes, Charles Boardman

Hawes, Charles Boardman (1889-1923), was an American author of sea-adventure books for boys. He won the 1924 Newbery medal for The Dark Frigate. His other books include The Mutineers (1920), The Great Quest (1921), and Gloucester, by Land and Sea (1923). Hawes was born in Clifton Springs, New York.
