GI

GI is a common term for members of the United States armed forces. It was first applied to the men in the ranks of the Army during World War II (1939-1945) and the Korean War (1950-1953). GI is an abbreviation for government issue or general issue, terms used for clothing or equipment issued to United States soldiers.
